Farm to Curb began on April 1, 2020 in an effort to help the farmers we know and love through the pandemic—namely Peter Schaner and Romeo Coleman. Because the restaurants they supplied were closed, the idea was to distribute their produce to a few friends and neighbors. Well, our friends told their friends and, even in quarantine, we met many new neighbors—who were quite hungry, as it turned out. So, we soon started selling meat and fish from Premier Meats and Peads and Barnetts. And then, when some friends reached out—who also happened to be talented chefs looking for more work—we started offering their market-driven, scratch-cooked prepared foods.
And everybody won.
Our farm boxes have provided us with structure, purpose, social connection, family activities and, of course, better food. We hope they bring you joy as well.
Since we are only able to produce a limited number of farm boxes each week, priority is given to our weekly subscribers. Any remaining boxes are sold off until we sell out.
Farm to Curb is really the love-child of three friends and neighbors—we are Aliza Miner, Corina Weibel and Sam Brenzel. Two of us (Aliza and Corina) have worked in the LA food industry for decades. Corina was chef/owner of the much missed restaurant, Canele, and has moved on to her next culinary chapter in Italy.
These boxes reflect our taste, knowledge and love of fresh food, and we give a lot of thought to what goes into each week’s box. The prepared food offerings are carefully coordinated with the weekly produce, so that it all works as a whole, and can be thought of as a foundation for your week’s meals. Aliza provides descriptions of everything offered with recipes and suggestions about how to use and combine it all.
